Solar Eclipse Pictures

August 21st, 2017, Seattle, Washington. Today was “the great American Eclipse.” In Seattle it was 90% coverage, or the moon was covering 90% of the sun.

It was an experience and I’m glad I took the opportunity to take pictures with my camera, along with the help of my dad.

I got my nose pierced!

Hello lovelies, I’m back with a new post.

Yesterday I got my nose pierced and it was not as bad as I expected. It didn’t hurt, I didn’t even feel the needle go through my skin.

The lady in front of me was also getting her nose pierced and she screamed, this caused me to be more worried.

Before any of you ask, I got a stud not a ring. It’s silver and I’ll be sure to show some pictures along with me.

As I said, I didn’t feel the needle, this was the most painless moment. Before I went to get my nose pierced my mom had me take a ginger(a pill to help calm your stomach.) I waited an hour to get my piercing, this could have been a good or bad thing.

The guy who pierced my nose knew I was nervous, I kept avoiding long amounts of eye contact and I was shaking.

So far after a day I’ve hit the piercing once, I completely forgot it was even there. The only time I notice it is when I flare my nostrils or yawn.

To clean my piercing I have a gallon on distilled water and 4 teaspoons of sea salt. Twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, I put my nose in a cup and soak it in it for ten minutes. I have to do this for about 6 months to a year, not all fun when your dad makes you laugh and it goes up your nose.

I have not sneezed since I got the piercing, I have no advice on that.

If you don’t want your nose piercing to be flashy then get a smaller stud. I didn’t get a big stud because I don’t want it to be super flashy.

I got the nose piercing because I love the way they look and I’ve been looking into getting one for about a year(my mom told me to ask in a year so I did).

Little mini update

I know I haven’t been updating every other day as I’ve realized that it’s better to focus on quality than quantity. My plan is to get a bigger blog post up on Friday, something maybe a little different.

I’ve been brainstorming and if the post doesn’t get up Friday then it WILL be up before midnight on Saturday(Pacific Time.)

I promise I’m doing okay, as I said, quality not quantity.

Love hurts. There is nothing as painful as heartbreak. But in order to learn to love again, you must learn to trust again.

When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.

But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo’s empathic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards . . . and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven.

“That’s the thing about life. A lot of the time, it isn’t easy at all. We just have to try to make the best of it.”
― Nicholas SparksSafe Haven

I remember a couple of years ago I watched the movie Safe Haven, based on the book. When I checked out the book I didn’t remember anything about the movie.

I began to flip through the pages, I read the book in a little over five hours. I wish I read it slower, being able to read fast can be a curse. As I flipped through the pages I slowly started to remember the movie, I couldn’t remember exactly what happened next but I remembered the ending.

The ending of this book made me cry, I don’t know why, I have really no relation to what happened. I don’t want to spoil the ending, if you’re reading this just to find out what happens, I’m sorry.

I thought the book was filled with emotion and the reality that it could happen to anyone. You can’t live your life in fear but you also can not think about what could happen.

People say you should live life day-to-day not thinking about anything, what happens when we think?

I think about what could happen and I know I shouldn’t, I do though.

I would tell you to read this book, in fact I’d say if you’re interested you’d love it. I’m still looking into watching the movie again and comparing them but that won’t be for a week.

I won’t be posting another blog post until Saturday, August 5th. I’ll be gone for a leadership retreat for my school newspaper. I will post some pictures and write a short and sweet blog post about it.

I also did go to the hospital again, I didn’t write a specific post about it again.

Till next time, XOXO

Fake it

Ouch, the word fake stings me so hard it makes me bleed. You can’t heal that wound it just created, it’s now a scar, forever within you.

What does fake mean?

According to the word fake means:

  1. Prepare or make (something specious, deceptive, or fraudulent): to fake a report showing nonexistent profits.
  2. To conceal the defects of or make appear more attractive, interesting, valuable, etc., usually in order to deceive:
  3. To pretend; simulate: to fake illness
  4. To accomplish by trial and error or by improvising
  5. To trick or deceive an opponent) by making a fake (often followed by out)

Fake, fake, fake, fake.

We all hate this word, we get called it but if we hate it so much why do we call other people fake? Some people may say they’ve never used the word fake or that they’ve never been called fake. Everyone has been called fake, whether we believe it or not we all know it’s true.

I know I’ve been called fake, do I believe it? No, why would I believe something that someone said about me because they believe it’ll make them feel better. Everyone has their own opinions and we can say some people are more correct than others but is that really true?

If you’re sitting at a park with a few of your school friends and a girl with a tank top dress walks by would one of your friends say something? Some will say yes and others may think no, you may think you know your friends but then deep down they say, “wow she looks fake.”

You’re shocked, you thought she looked confident and you can’t believe one of your friends just shot her down. Then you began to put more thought into why they may have said this. Maybe others call them fake? They could be going through a hard time? Maybe they’re jealous?

Whatever the reason it may be, we ignore it and continue on with our mundane lives. Why do we choose to ignore this? What’s the point in arguing with one of your close friends when you can not say anything and keep your happy relationship.

The word fake can be full of hate, I see it as a word that insults people without swearing. The word fake gives me a headache, it’s used so much now you hear it all the time.

What would happen if we stopped using the word fake? Comment what you think would happen below and leave your blog links. I’d love to check them out!

XOXO Samantha

Liebster Award 2

Hello lovelies xx,

I’m back again with another Liebster Award nominated by Magonlineblog, you all should go and check her blog out;).

What is your biggest goal in life?

Getting through college in the major I want and having a successful job. I don’t want to leave college with a major that I hate or regret picking, I want to try to enjoy working when I’m older(if that’s possible.) I’m looking into Chemistry or Journalism, It’d be more fun to get a chemistry major and then do blogging on the side or something.

What is one thing you’ve learned in your blogging journey so far?

Attracting people to social media is harder than people think. I actually have two Instagram, one is personal with all my friends and then my other one is for my blog. My personal one was easier for followers, everyone from my school and etc., but with my blog Instagram I have to go out and attract followers. Using hashtags with attract more people but that doesn’t always mean they will follow you. A lot of my posts have random likes from photographers all over the world but most don’t follow me. I still have to work on getting a good blog theme in my pictures.

Who/What is your biggest inspiration?

Oh wow I never really think about this. I’d have to say anyone who’s a writer, I’ve never read any of Stephen King’s books but I need to soon! He’s one of the top because he’s wrote so many books.

Out of all social media platforms which one do you prefer the most?

Twitter, I follow news accounts, some friends who use Twitter, but mostly just other bloggers around the world. It’s a great app to connect with people and share your posts. Bloggers are the sweetest people ever and you’ll begin to notice if you’re just starting out blogging that most will follow you back.

What is your favorite quote?

“Only I can change my life, no one can do it for me,” Carol Burnett.

I love this quote so much, it’s true and it’s also featured on my post called Me, Myself and Samantha, click here to view it.

Something barely anyone knows about you?

I feel like most people think they know me and then they get to know me and realize I’m not the “typical white girl.” A lot of people don’t know I blog, even if I put posts on my private Instagram most don’t notice. I thought I had a solid answer to this question but I really don’t.

What is your ultimate blogging goal?

To get to the point when I get a high amount of followers and views to start using like google ads or getting sponsors and PR’s. I only blog for myself though, if I were to get asked to post about something I don’t like then I wouldn’t do it.

What is the story behind your blog name?

Well, I was sitting in my room thinking of names and I kinda threw something together? I didn’t want an obnoxious name and I also didn’t want it with my own name in it. What’s even more funny about this name is I’m really not basic, it has a nice ring to it. When i’m older I’ll have to change it but it’ll be all good.

Which blog post are you most proud of?

This is odd because I’m not very into makeup but my first makeup review. No7 Maximum Volume Mascara review. It was a fun post, I took out my camera and took a few pictures of my eyes.

Is there one thing you wish you were better at?

Drawing, I’m a terrible drawer, my sister is good at it but I draw like a potato.

One beauty product/app/food etc. you wouldn’t be able to live without?

Carrots, what’s life without carrots?

I don’t have very many people to nominate and I feel bad, most people I know have already been nominated. If you would like me to nominate you leave a link to your blog below and I’ll check it out!

Lots of love always, XOXO

Another little mini update

Okay, I forgot to add something to my last update but I didn’t want to add onto it if I just posted it.

I’ve been trying to get into social media more with my blog, today I connect my pinterest to it. A few days ago I created a Facebook page, I have my twitter and an Instagram account.

I’d love to follow some of you guys on your social media, please leave your links below and I will check them out.

Love you guys, XOXO

A little Update

I’m doing a little better, the other day I got a full night of sleep. But other than that one day I’ve still been having nightmares and waking up from time to time. He’s also been doing a lot better which is really good!

Summer homework is so boring, the book I’m reading is good but I don’t like reading books that I have to highlight and annotate in. Also, guys I had some major eye bags this morning, it was beautiful. Not the good type of beautiful but the color was beautiful.

Today I watched a movie and had my AP Chemistry textbook in front of me. My dad said to me, “At least you’re making it look like you’re attempting.”

I don’t really have much to say about today, it’s 10:25 p.m. currently. I’m writing this post and about to read for the next twoish hours.

Hope you guys had a lovely day, XOXO

The Crucible(1996)

This year as I’ve explained in some of my earlier posts I am taking three AP classes. All three require everyone who is taking the class to do summer homework. One of my AP classes, AP U.S. History requires us to watch 14 history movies, we have to watch them in order. I’m watching them with my best friend, we’re both taking the same AP classes; except she’s taking an AP Calculus as well as the three I’m taking.

This weekend we spent twelve hours watching four long mundane movies.

This first movie review is about The Crucible(1996), this takes place in the late 1600’s during the Salem Witch trials. Staring Winona Ryder who plays a crazy teenage girl named Abigail who is in love with a man named John(Daniel Day-Lewis.) Unfortunately for her, he is in love with his wife(Joan Allen); they have two young boys.

One day Abigail and a few other teenage girls went into the woods with a huge pot and started dancing around it. They we’re praying and begging for a guy to fall in love with them. Abigail on the other hand was praying that she wanted John’s wife to die.

A little girl who was with the group at the time then fell ill, she had no symptoms and they didn’t know why she wouldn’t wake up. They accused the girls of summoning the devil, Abigail started blaming other girls, this brought all of them to start blaming each other.

Abigail only started all of this because she hated John’s wife, multiple people died and got accused of being a witch.

This movie was boring and even more boring. The first time I watched it I fell asleep but then this time I didn’t. I brought myself into Abigail and imagined what it would be like.

The guy you love love’s another women, you just want him, unfortunately you’re being selfish. I can’t imagine being there in Salem and watching multiple people get hanged, you’re friends being accused. Not knowing if one of your friends when next accuse you because they believe, “you’re summoning the devil and the devil is in you.”

I’d rate this movie a 3/10, I believe there is really no interesting way to make a movie about this topic. I’ve been learning about U.S. History since I was a little kid but this topic really has no interest.

Although I did spend some time learning about witch trials in my AP European History class last year.

Until Next time XOXO
